We are on a mission to convince dog owners in Northern Virginia to raise their expectations when searching for dog walkers. Dog walking qualifications such as experience and love for dogs are basic and should be the least we expect of our dog walkers. What is harder to find are dog walkers who are familiar with many dog breeds AND a wide variety of dog behaviors. WalkOn offers affordable dog walking services that are provided by knowledgeable professionals who also happen to love dogs.
Bonded and Insured
WalkOn is locally owned and operated, bonded and insured. Our staff receives professional training and support, so if you know any dog lovers who may be interested in dog walking and learning more about dogs, we’re always looking for dedicated dog walkers.
Meet the Staff
The earliest canine encounter Beth can remember was terrifying. Newton, the scruffy terrier mix who lived next door, jumped up and Beth ran. Newton chased. The happy ending to this story is that it was just the beginning of Beth’s abiding interest in dogs and their behavior. Her parents also made sure Beth had plenty of dogs to raise, train and snuggle too.
Beth’s interest in behavior expanded to humans and years later she earned an MA in forensic psychology. After many years working in the legal field, Beth turned her attention back to her first love–dogs. Her grounding in psychology has informed Beth’s positive approach to training her two horses, Riley and Peanut, and her dog Lulu. Beth is acutely aware that, like people, no two dogs are the same. They all bring something different to the party.
Beth is committed to professional development for herself and her team. She has engaged a local dog trainer to give her walkers a grounding in dog behavior and strategies for dealing with difficult dog behaviors as they arise.
JEN JANG, WALKER
Jen Jang has loved animals from her earliest memory. Growing up, she had lots of fish, guinea pigs, birds, hamsters, and other little furry companions. While she loved all of her pets, there was one pet she wanted most of all – a dog. She begged her parents for a dog, but they were skeptical.
When Jen’s family immigrated to the United States from South Korea, her parents finally relented and adopted their first dog, a Miniature Schnauzer named Nari (Lily in Korean) who grew up right beside Jen over the next 17 years. After her passing, Jen realized just how important dogs are to her. This realization sparked a sudden shift in her career planning.
During Jen’s junior year in high school, as she was preparing to pull an art portfolio together for college applications, Jen changed direction at the last minute; she knew she had to work with animals. Jen took a veterinary science elective for two years where she learned dog behavior, breeds, medicine, and more.
Jen is now studying animal science at Northern Virginia Community College, and continues her practical experience by walking dogs for WalkOn, minding dogs part-time at a doggy day care center. Jen plans to continue working with all her furry friends.
NICOLE SOK, WALKER
From the time she was very young Nicole has loved animals unconditionally. Nicole worked in an animal clinic and dog boarding kennel for 8 years and has experience with many breeds, sizes and temperaments. She graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with an AAS in Information Systems Technology and is currently an assistant property manager.
Nicole missed working with dogs on a daily basis and began looking for part-time work walking dogs and pet sitting. Nicole’s calm demeanor is quickly recognized by any dog she meets. She gives all dogs the same commitment and care that she gives her own two dogs. Nicole truly loves and enjoys being around and caring for dogs.
